W A L L . E Popcorn Smasher
PIXAR animation studios has again met my expectations!
The emotion is there, the drama is there, the entirety of the story plot flows and it has a morale about saving the Earth.
Some of you have no idea how hard it is to make this movie. Well, it is. Trust Me.
All the robot scenes, the transformation and all that hologram stuff? Well, its going to take a very long time to fix all those up. I say that this is PIXAR's breakthrough. The story plot is fantastic, only the director from Finding Nemo can think of something like this. Ok ok let me get straight into reviewing.
At the start of the movie, an old song was played, I myself do not know the title, but its those olden American songs. And afterwards, they revealed an Earth, full of Garbage and a company name B&L always pops up here and again. Afterwards you see a fantastic view of the city of new york and you will see something pretty interesting about the towers there. You will see later our friend, WALL.E a very curious robot.
When they said in this movie there was no talking? They really mean no talking. I mean occasionally, Wall.E will beep and whistle and do all those things that he's suppose to do. You can't help but admire this little machine, able to survive all by himself by using his other Wall.E friends parts to maintain himself. He will gather resources all by himself and he likes to collect funny stuff that we will laugh at.
Of course, then comes the part where Eve appeared and basically he manage to befriend her for a while. There was some sort of one word spoken language that was the first time words were spoken in the movie and subsequently, you guys know from the WALL.E trailer, he went to space because Eve suddenly was taken by the spaceship. So he followed after the ship, always staying on the outside of the ship, poor Wall.E, but he got to see amazing things he did not see on Earth as he made his way to space.
As the story flows, there will be hints to tell you what really happened on Earth and you will find clues as to why Earth was totally empty and where exactly are all the Humans? All this will be slowly revealed. Of course, let's not forget Wall.E's adventure. Do not look down on this little Robot, for he can do great things. =)
I can't say more. All I know was, I had a ride of my life. Also, there were touching scenes here and there which made my heart ache at one point. Its worth the money! to those who do not mind animation.... Haiz... It seems that some people do not like animation and they will immediately find this movie a piece of crap... But i urge you people to understand that this movie is really quite fantastic. It also tells us other morales then saving the Earth... You have to watch to understand folks.
I shall not say anything anymore. Until then, Earthlings, WALL.E out!

Exams over! What next...
So, what do i do now?
While waiting for the results to materialize I guess I can share what I am going to do next. Probably continue working at Cheryl's workplace.
Continue working is a must. I need the money for my future course or pathway. Indeed arts is a narrow road for me. Still I will give it a go. And before I want to enroll I would like to at least get my basic drawing skills down pat. That is why, I've created a routine that I need to draw. So I got my drawing table ready and sat down and just keep drawing the ideas I have about the story in my book. Its not very nice yet. But I want to keep improving.
My dream will not be an easy road. Both roads that I take are going to be risky. I need to have a job and earn the money for the course. After which I still have army to take care off. Two years of wastage time.
Because of NS I need to set a routine for exercise in order to not suffer in NS. I must do all I can to at least get my arm muscles up-grade.
Other than exercise and drawing, there is the part where I have to write a book. For Elly's sake and to realize my own dream of writing a novel. That was my secondary school dream...
I really pray that the exams will be alright. I do not want to see the same teacher AGAIN. It will be super frustrating! And I can't afford to differ again. Let's just say this path is fixed for now, but i will change out of it soon.

Money No Enough 2: Special Screening @ CHC
Today, in City Harvest Expo Hall 8, from 2.30 - 5.30pm. Money no Enough 2 was screened!
It was an exciting thing! To have a movie screened at a Church was something I have never experienced! And it was indeed the movie for screening.
I could only say that the atmosphere created by our own church after all the graduation service, the holy spirit still lingers in that area. When the movie started, all was quiet and listened and laugh at all the political and funny jokes spoken throughout the movie. However, it was not all jokes and laughter. There were certain parts in the movie which I believe what makes Jack Neo's movie the best to me. I mean, Royston Tan can do 881 and may have topped the charts. The thing was, Jack Neo also have Box Office records before. Even so, I believe that this movie, Money no Enough 2 is one of the most meaningful, most touching and amazing movie he has ever made.
Filial Piety is getting lesser and lesser in our society. So much so, we are influenced so much by the western culture, we tend to follow it a little too closely. Where kids are honoring to their parents are concern, very little have been doing that due to the technology as well as the change of the generation.
In my opinion, we should merge Western upbringing along with Eastern Upbringing. Western in the affirmation and hugs, Eastern for the Honoring of parents and not Sparring the Rod for the child. If we can balance this lifestyle, we are able to become better parents in future as well as to be filial to our parents who have been our providers, sometimes the bad guys because they want to change us, but one thing is for certain, all of them paid a price, to sacrifice for what they have in order to save us, their children, from their situation. Even if they are hurt inside, they still love us, unconditionally and with no strings attached.
The person who acted the mother of the three brothers in this movie, I really take my hat off to her. She really brought out the emotion, not forgetting 'Huey Ge' who really did very well for this movie. Jack Neo wrote the song which appeared near the end of the movie, which was called, Mother is just a name. It was a very sad song, sung in Hokkien.
Jack Neo, I really take my hat off to you. I'll take off as many hats for you, for being so multi-talented, artsy, classy and indeed making a difference in Singapore through film. He has became one of the reigning ranks of Directors I look up to. The song was what made me tear, just to see the meaning being sung, I really felt for the characters within the story and the emotion behind the song was simply powerful.
After the whole movie, Jack Neo came up along with the cast of the show, and the MingZhu Sisters gave a performance to sing that last song of the movie. Mark Lee was not present there, haiz wasted. After the whole event, I went for the autograph session, get to say some words to Jack Neo and the cast, there was a new girl there called Natalie, she's only 18 but she's really beautiful and tall. Ok maybe its the heels, but I bet if she took it off, she will still be taller than me... Haiz... The life of short legs... Anyway, I really enjoyed myself, get to watch this whole movie event with Jiasin and we manage to catch up with one another.
Overall, I started off the weak, soul recharged and reignited with a new passion. To be in the film arena, my medium being animation. I still do not know how to go about serving God using animation as a medium but I know I will find a way there. I will fulfill my destiny that God has placed in my life. Amen and amen.

Another Valley Conqured, Weary soul was restored...
It was a grueling week for me as it was my exam week.
I am just so tired of my fleshly self during that time to study for just one paper. One paper, and my ugly sides were shown. I have been rebellious, been stubborn and unreasonable. It was a challenging time for me as I received criticism after criticism during this week. And when I wanted to study, I was so affected by my circumstance, I did not really look forward towards my exams and my drive to study wavers too soon.
Fortunately, I really thank God for being my helper. When I went to Ngee Ann Poly to look for my lecturer, asking for tips to help me, about 90% of the exam paper, came out what I was told to study. There were some difficulties in the paper calculations and now that the paper is finished, I can seat back and relax!!!
That was what I thought. I actually felt relieved that the exam is over. However, during that whole week, I missed out something, and that is Praising God no matter what the situation.
On that Friday night, the exam day, I went for a concert, invited by my friend Josephine. It was her church concert known as JUMP, Jesus 'U' Must Praise 2008. It was in the open air, Fort Canning Park. When the event started, we just began to sing praises and worship. Although I was new to this event, I did not feel out of place. The group of people there maybe small, smaller that City Harvest. But they are definitely on fire for God. After the event I was tired, but still I remember the true meaning of Praise and Worship, which we all knew but we always forget when we face crisis.
I thought that I could just seat down and relax remember? Well thats my wrong perception. From this day forth its going to be even busier! Rev Alex Abraham from Bethany Church in Indonesia, came to minister to us and give us the Word for both Sat and Sunday Service as these two services was the day of School of Theology, SOT, Graduation ceremony! My cell group members, Junjie and Michelle were students of SOT and we gave our support.
The thing about Rev Alex Abraham, is that he came to preach even when he is still recovering from his Stroke. He was humble after Pastor Kong grace him with all the achievements he had. The moment he came up he said that "I am just a Servant." Immediately I thought of the song, Hati Hamba. Even though he preached in indo language, there was an interpretor to translate to English, i can just feel the presence of God in that room. He shared his amazing Testimony of how he became a Pastor and met God for the first time.
The details are too long but I can say this. There is Power, in the Name of Jesus Christ. He reminded us the one thing that sometimes we always forgot. That God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit is ONE GOD. And God dwells in our Heart! Not the address of Heaven, but he dwells within you. Thus we are able to do Great things because God dwells in us! He made some points which I noted that whenever he wanted things to happen, he will always call upon the name of Jesus. Then during the altar call, he wanted to give us an impartation. He called down the Spirit and I was actually touched by the Holy Spirit, giving me a glimpse of the future me. I shall not reveal it. =)
That was just the First Day. Today, he was extraordinary as usual. He talked about how he got his land for his church, another amazing and inspiring testimony. There was a funny part about how he would jog about the land and sing this song: "In the name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus, I have the victory. In the name of Jesus, In the name of Jesus, This Land belongs to me." We laughed at that. But the thing is, he got that huge plot of land, Free of Charge because, he did a miracle for the owner of that land. Then instead of preaching further, he felt the Holy Spirit move and asked Pastor Kong to stand so that he can pray for him. I know that at this point. It was indeed a blessing to the whole church.
He gave certain prophetic word and asked the Holy Spirit to empower Pastor Kong as well as to strengthen the church. I felt great confidence in my own body. I felt that big things will be happening in the future. Indeed I felt very excited, with all the upcoming stuff like Asia Conference, its going to be a phenomenal time from this day forth.
Rev Alex Abraham says this: We have only one Life, which God has given us, so Let us Live it All the Way for the Glory of our lord, Jesus Christ.

My Lucky Star: Love is all about Character...
Its been a long time since I've blogged. But I have to say something or else I believe I will BURST!
I am not the kind of guy who watched Taiwan Dramas. In fact, I did not know of any Taiwan Dramas that captured my attention.
However, thanks to my good friend David, he recommended one series for me to watch.
This drama is entitled: My Lucky Star
This drama, is a MUST WATCH! Seriously, the plot is good, the cast are captivating and it so happens that the main actress in the story is actually a Korean by the name of Yoo Ha Na. Watch out for her, because personally I think she has done the most job in bringing out the essence of the drama. I can't help but to think that this drama, especially Yoo Ha Na the actress, has made me captivated in the scenes of My Lucky Star.
This show is about Jewelery, Romance, Comedy, Action, Racing, Betrayal... Basically its one of those dramas that has everything. Its storyline, whoever came up with it is indeed a genius. This movie is about a Con-women, Xia Zhi Xing who used to make counterfeit jewelery to make a living and scam off rich people. After being caught and living in Jail for 2 years, she is willing to turn over a new leaf. Until he met the 2nd Young Master of the Biggest Jewelery Empire known as E-Shine.
She lets this 2nd young master, an arrogant man known as Zhong Tian Qi, experience her life as she was due to a 'Handcuffed' situation. After which the journey begins when the 2nd young master was freed from the handcuffs and decides to follow Xia Zhi Xing to understand and lead a new form of life then just being the number 2 man in E-shine.
The story is really about Xia Zhi Xing and Zhong Tian Qi's love for each other and how they overcome misunderstandings after misunderstandings. It also help me realize that indeed the truth shall set you free. Altogether the 20 episodes was a roller coaster ride. I can't help but cry whenever Xia Zhi Xing cried during the show.
Even during the Behind-the -scenes short clips, when they said that Yoo Ha Na cried during one of the touching scenes, after the shot was done she still could not stop crying. I have never felt my heart sort of 'break' when she started crying. Its a feeling that I have not felt for a long time. The last time I had this feeling was from watching Kiddy Grade, a Japanese Anime, where my heart was broken when the main character struggle so hard just to clear her name and to find that love was lost once again and that she had no choice but to fight, in the end resulting a lost of her love ones.
Yoo Ha Na was one of the actress which gave me a very very powerful impression. She may play as Xia Zhi Xing but i believe both Xia Zhi Xing character and her own character are similar. Both are innocent and strong in their character values. Caring for their friends, standing strong in moral values, very perceptive of a person's character and is forgiving towards whoever that does her harm. Which is one of the best of her virtues.
I admitted that I sort of have a 'crush' on Yoo Ha Na and her character Xia Zhi Xing, but I know this is just a drama, an act but definitely, I would like to find a partner similar qualities to Xia Zhi Xing, however, this is the real world. So its probably just wishful thinking to find a beautiful, pure and innocent, a heart of Gold and full of forgiveness as well as not letting people run over her head.
Still I wish I could find someone like her. Its just a Benchmark to my preference thats all. Anyway, I'm not in a rush for any romance unless my life is rather stable and I have become physically ' a real man'. Because NS is a hindrance to find relationships, its even hard to maintain when you are in NS. I will be posting Episode 1 of MY LUCKY STAR after my exams on Friday. Do catch it! If not? Well, I'll think of something. =)

The last time I had this feeling was from watching Kiddy Grade, a Japanese Anime, where my heart was broken when the main character struggle so hard just to clear her name and to find that love was lost once again and that she had no choice but to fight, in the end resulting a lost of her love ones.
Yoo Ha Na was one of the actress which gave me a very very powerful impression. She may play as Xia Zhi Xing but i believe both Xia Zhi Xing character and her own character are similar. Both are innocent and strong in their character values. Caring for their friends, standing strong in moral values, very perceptive of a person's character and is forgiving towards whoever that does her harm. Which is one of the best of her virtues.
I admitted that I sort of have a 'crush' on Yoo Ha Na and her character Xia Zhi Xing, but I know this is just a drama, an act but definitely, I would like to find a partner similar qualities to Xia Zhi Xing, however, this is the real world. So its probably just wishful thinking to find a beautiful, pure and innocent, a heart of Gold and full of forgiveness as well as not letting people run over her head.
Still I wish I could find someone like her. Its just a Benchmark to my preference thats all. Anyway, I'm not in a rush for any romance unless my life is rather stable and I have become physically ' a real man'. Because NS is a hindrance to find relationships, its even hard to maintain when you are in NS. I will be posting Episode 1 of MY LUCKY STAR after my exams on Friday. Do catch it! If not? Well, I'll think of something. =)

HAPPY 43rd BIRTHDAY SINGAPORE!!!
It was indeed the time of Singapore's Independence Day. Yes, its Singapore's National DAy on the 9 August. It was an amazing day for me because... I MANAGE TO GO FOR THE ACTUAL PERFORMANCE TODAY! WOOOHOOO!!! Thanks alot Weiloong!
He blessed me with a ticket to go watch the National Day Parade! It was actually a little unexpected then what I had in mind. Its not like what we watch on television, where the crowd will start screaming and shouting. Well only the middle portion will sometimes shout the loudest. I was seated at the west sector of the Marina Bay Seating area. Again this year, Singapore used the Floating platform for their National Day.
When Weiloong and I reached City Hall, it was packed! Such that the MRT had to give announcements! "The Station is crowded. If you are not taking the train please leave the station." Now that is one announcement you won't get to hear often in train stations. LOL! But it was crowded. We had to worm our way through. Weiloong was not carrying much, but I was carrying my guitar bag as it was after Cell Group when we head down together.
Once we reached Marina Square, there are signs to lead us to the ticket admission area. We had to undergo scan check for any malicious items before we proceed to walk to the Marina Bay. As we walk, we could see a sea of Red. Every corner you turn, there are people with Red Shirts. That was Singapore's Way of honoring the National Day. Wear Red Shirts. I wore a Maroon shirt, that was the only Red shirt I had. In fact it wasn't mine, it was my Dad's. I just borrowed.
Anyway, before proceeding to our west sector, we went to get our Fun Packs, its a must for NDP to give out Fun Packs for the survival of the crowd. It was a tote bag and inside was those string bags where you pull the string it will tighten the mouth of the bag. Those kind of bags. Inside there are tidbits, drinks and even some sweets. Of course there are other items like a Air Glove, you've got to blow it up in order to use it. There are lights inside the glove that is used for the night scene. After which, Weiloong and I found seats and then waited for the celebration to begin.
It started with the choir singing some songs and after which other items came to entertain us.
Highlights: National Day highlights are the new Sea display of boats, jet skis and Power Boats, then we have the RSAF Black Knights. That is the F-16 Display in the Air. The Red Lions Parachuters are one of the highlights. But during this time, it was actually drizzling. I had to sacrifice my poncho(located in goody bag) to my guitar bag. Thank God it was only a drizzle so I wasn't soaking wet.
Then the members of Parliament came in. The Prime Minister later and then...
THE CONTINGENTS ARRIVED! One of my favorite parts of National Day, was the different sectors of the army came marching in. Then once the Guard of Honor was in place, the President came to the scene. By this time we were all standing up. Then came the familiar rumble of the start of the national anthem. Then the Chinook helicopter carrying our nation's flag came through the stadium as the song was played. It was a rather nostalgic time for me, because I have never sung the National Anthem for a very long time.
After this, the President check the various ranks while the artillery fire off. Then once it was checked. The Parade commander commands for a 21 Gun Salute. The Guard of Honor would raise their rifles and fire rounds into the air. Don't worry, they are all blanks.
They started to march off the field in an orderly manner. Then the Black Knights came back to show its prowess! It was magnificent. When the pictures are uploaded I'll let you guys see.
Then came the programs. Actually to be honest, the programs were a little boring. Other than that, the occasional Fireworks and Flares kept us entertain, as well as the musical fountain we had. Then came the Grand Finale where this Years Theme Song, Shine for Singapore was sung and together with all the other performance groups for the Grand Finale. We stood up and sang old songs together as one people, one nation and one Singapore. Then it was time to say our pledge:
We the Citizens of Singapore
Pledge ourselves, as one united people
Regardless of Race, Language or Religion
To build a Democratic Society,
Based on Justice and Equality,
So as to achieve Happiness
Prosperity, and Progress for our Nation.
Then we sang the National Anthem one more time and after that, the President will take its leave. And that marks the end of the NDP parade.
I love the theme song for this year, but i prefer the Chinese version to the English somehow. Not because I am a Chinese but the person who sang it was really good. Anyway, It was a tiring day, my eyes keep closing. I shall close by saying Happy Birthday Singapore, For a Better Singapore than Today. Thank you God for protecting Singapore too. Hit by the Sian-Disease
Its those days again, when I feel the pressure, for no apparent reason.
Ok maybe its for a few reasons. I am just so tired. Probably because I sleep too late. Or maybe its because of the Final Exam coming. Perhaps its the job I have? It is admin job afterall, abit sian of it. Perhaps all of my energy went to FOP for dancing too much. LOL!
I do have one good news over all the sian-ness I mentioned. I manage to clear my common test! Its a pass! The lecturer do not want to tell me, But I have a feeling its a JUST pass. Nevertheless, I passed. Yet it still does not comfort me. The 2nd Paper was really difficult, what if the lecturer set something so hard that I can't pass my BTN again? Maybe in the end, this was the root of me being sian.
Furthermore, a friend of mine, who I looked up to a role model, has suddenly 'fallen' from where he was. Shall not mention the name. For those who know, you-know-who it was. You don't? Next time then tell you who.
It seems after FOP, the devil decided to start attacking the christians in their walk with God, with their Faith. I felt so drain I admitted that I have not been praying and reading the bible this week. To add on I even played games, not studying. ARGH! WHY ALWAYS LIKE THIS ON THE LAST FEW WEEKS TO EXAM!!!
Anyway, depressed at the moment. But I won't stay this way all the time. I have to stand up. Citius, Altius, Fortius! The motto of the Olympics must ring within our minds.
BEIJING OLYMPICS 2008 will commence today! Don't miss it!

Festival of Praise!!! With the Parachute Band and Rueben Morgan
This years Festival of Praise has indeed created an impact in my life.
Probably because I decided before I went for FOP, that I wanted to find God in that meeting. Which I did, all three nights! I love Him more and indeed being in that stadium made me visualize the building that City Harvest was going to built. Its like seeing catching a glimpse of the future interior. Even by looking at the exterior I can even see how it was going to be like. However, I know ours will be bigger, after all, we are impacting the market place.
Back to my topic. Festival of Praise was a time where we can pray for the nation, our nation, Singapore. Indeed I am grateful for being born in Singapore. We can actually do more things for God due to our position. Festival of Praise is also the only time, where all churches from around Singapore can come together in unity to praise and worship the true living God. It was an experience that I can never forget.
The was also Pastor Mark Conner, forgive me if I spelled wrong. He was a very funny and interactive guy, and one more feature of him that really stand out.
He was SUPER DUPER TALL!
Wow... Really tall. But nevertheless, he brought the whole three days of FOP a word from God that really wake up the Singapore churches. The messages were:
1. How A Church Should be Like
2. Growing Old and Growing Up
3. Live the Life of Eternity
Indeed three messages that I am seriously going to apply in my life, especially, number 2 and three message.
I will talk more of the messages if I have the time. But now, I just want to say, PARACHUTE BAND as well as REUBAN MORGON and the Hillsong Team ROCKS!
I have to talk about the Last night of the event. After Mark Conner's preaching, we went into a time of worship. Afterwards come the Praise. And BOY! The Praise was superb! We sang old hits, new hits and then they told us to come to the front of the stage to dance! I immediately turned to one of my friends, Guang Jin. He knew what I wanted and he is also very enthusiastic.
We took off in an instant, we did not manage to get very front but it was still nice to see so many people around me, jumping, yelling, shouting, all praises to God. We jumped and danced till we're so tired. At the end of the whole praise, the pastor came up and told us this.
"You wanted to live in Eternity? Well THIS is what Eternity is all about! Christians all around, regardless of denomination, will come together and praise God together!"
Indeed, everything on that whole FOP was a just a minor glimpse of Eternity. You know what? Even if its a minor glimpse, I still Love it! I cannot comprehend what will happen when Eternity really hits us. We won't be tired, we'll be praising God through songs, through our talents and abilities and even through prayer. Its going to be HUGE! thats for sure.

Birthday Surprise!
Yesterday, I did not have time to blog about it but this was what happen after my work.
I wanted to meet up with David to go home, as sometimes we do after work. We will meet up at Bras Basar Complex at the graphics book store. We usually browse the animation, drawing and graphic books. Then he told me that today, he wanted to go and buy a set of pencils.
So we explored the Bras Basar complex for the brand, Lycra. He said he wanted to buy it for himself. I made a remark that he should buy a present for me but i was joking when i said it. In fact he did not take heed of it when i say it.
He went to popular bookstore and we both found the lycra pencil set. He kept asking for my opinion in buying drawing products so i did. I persuaded him to buy the 12 set instead of the 6 set pencils he used before. I thought he wanted to be fully equipped for art coz i know his passion for animation. So in the end he bought two sets of 12 pencils. I asked him why he needed so many, he did not reply me. He immediately say he wanted to buy drawing block.
So we went to find the drawing block. Then he came to the cashier. After we left popular, he asked me to help him carry his bag for a moment while he took out one lycra set from his purchase.
He acted very casually and seemingly aloof, as if nothing happened. Then he passed me the popular plastic bag, containing a lycra pencil case and the drawing block.
"Nah, your birthday present."
I was shocked! Literally, my mouth hung open with surprise.
"I thought you wanted to buy for yourself. So that's why I gave you so many opinions that will help you." I answered.
But deep inside. I was touched. No friend has and will go that far to buy me a present. In fact, he's the first actually, in my teenage life, that a friend has given me a present.
Well so I had my first pencil kit! Yeah! One little step towards my dream! I hope to be able to draw arts so that I can post on my VERY own Deviant-art account. After all, deviant-art can also be a portfolio, only that it is online XD
Other than that, Cheryl treated me to Ajisen Ramen today! WHOOHOO! It was delicious. I love Japanese Food! I love Korean food too, but I still love Japanese Food. Those in Singapore only haha. For now. I haven't really went to the real place to eat their real menu of food.
One of my goals in life is to work in Japan! Not stay there, Singapore is my home after all, but to go there and steal some knowledge as well as to learn from them how to be detailed people. Once I have mastered it, I will come back to Singapore to open up the Dream Studio. I know its a VERY, VERY, Narrow path... But my vision for a studio in Singapore was just the beginning. There is still more details inside which I am not going to reveal. Coz i'm not sure.
Other than all this, one thing i must say. Today, is the FIRST DAY of F.O.P.! For some of you who did not know what FOP is. Its Festival of Praise. Its a time where churches around Singapore come together to pray for the nation and celebrate with songs of Praise and Worship to the one God that brought Singapore to where it is, today.
I decided that this FOP will come forth a fresh anointing. Which will make me grow to the next phase in life. Thats all folks for now. I hope you have a good time
