Life and Light Part 1 - The Real Man

For last Sunday's message? One word to describe it... WOW!

Just when I posted something about a boy becoming a man? Look what happens! Our pastor, Pastor Tan Ye Peng, revealed to us how is it that a Real Man should be?

Firstly, he shared with us three categories of different types of men.

The first being the husband that provides for the family, the sole bread-winner and is the only working adult. He made sure the family had enough money to sustain. He is a leader of the family. However, he does not treat his wife as his equal, he does not his wife is able to work and wanted the wife to stay at home with the kids.

The second man was that he treat his wife as his equal. Therefore he expects her to go to work and provide for the family together. Not really the leader kind either.

The Third was a house-dad. A dad who nurtures and takes care of the children. He feels he is not an equal to his wife and the wife is the one working to be the sole breadwinner.

Then our pastor asked the whole congregation. "Which of this to you is the REAL MAN?"

The hall went quiet.

Then he went on to saying how Society has confused Roles with Purpose! It is not your purpose to be just a house-dad or to JUST provide for the family?

Adam was first created. He is a male. A man. A Real Man that God created in his own likeness and image. As well it was breathed into in Life by God. And the message for today was about Life and Light and how it coexist together.

Right first, the Life that God breathed into Adam, He also gave His Light, His presence. He was like God and thus carries God's Presence in him as well as the Moral standard of Holiness in side him as well. This was before the fall of man. Before the Fall, God gave Adam some things to do before the Women were introduced.

1. Adam was Put in a Garden = Home of Adam. This also depicts the place where Adam can get Connected with God's Presence.

So in other words, to be a Real Man of God, we need to connected to his Presence. Plugged into God's thoughts. Ever wondered why is it that only males suffer the condition of impotency of praying and even reading the bible? Well, the fall caused it.

We, as men, must get back to the connection with God.

2. Adam was Given Instructions by God. That means, man needs to Communicate. Since He can communicate with Adam and gave instructions, Man also can TEACH people.

So "gennemen", if I were to address Army style, Men actually CAN communicate! Yet you see that sometimes you got problem communicating with a friend, or to some people you do not know. Thanks to the Fall.

3. Adam was Given WORK to Tend the Garden. Meaning he acts as the Role of the Provider, he was not LAZY at all. He did not procrastinate for a Garden not tended regularly will not be able to provide the food that Adam feeds on.

Guess wat "gennemen", we all became LAZY. We all do things reluctantly, sometimes need someone to pull you along then you will do it. Do you see now?

4. Adam was given a Garden to Keep. Thus he plays the role of Protector. We have to protect our family and friends. As men, we will take the blow.

How many times you let your friends down when you knew you can protect them. Ask yourself, and see what has happened because of the fall.

5. Adam was given the Task to Name the Animals. This means he has the ability to take Leadership and Ownership. If not how else is he able to command the birds of the air and the fishes in the sea?

Guess what "gennemen", you all don't even want to become IC's in the platoon. No sense of taking ownership, which comes with great responsibility. All the ladies were the leaders. Cell group leaders, they take up testimony, prayer meetings and even praise and worship. Come on guys, genneman, you are all men.

The good news is, the fall happened because the First Adam made a mistake. But its thanks to the sacrifice of the Lamb of God, Jesus Christ, the Second Adam to restore it to its original intent, by bringing in the Light of God into our life's through the Outpouring of the Holy Spirit! It shall be poured on ALL FLESH! A very smart God. Allowing us to fulfill the Cultural Mandate until the day comes where he can start pouring his power on all flesh.

Indeed this is the Standard we should follow to be true men.

1. Stay connected to God
2. Communicate
3. Hardworking to Provide
4. Able to Provide security
5. Be a Leader, take the initiative.

So why must Men Bring God's Life and Light to the world?

1. Claim Back Territory
2. Restore it back to its original purpose and intent.
3. Deliver Creation from Corruption
4. The Women can't Wait for it. =)

And all the ladies say, Amen.

Thoughts of an animator...

Sometimes i wonder, how is it that people in the animation arena can come up with creative stuff and are always onto the next project and the next project. Where did those ideas come from???

Basically, they just went crazy. I mean, they will usually animate things that have been on their mind and they love that certain something of it. I mean check out Pixar's productions. Toy Story was derived because someone loves TOYS so much and wondered what will happen if Toy's were to talk and behave differently then they were advertised to be? They may keep the traits placed on the toy, but gradually they will realize the "real" World.

Deep thoughts huh. Not to these people thinking it.

The Incredibles birth forth because someone envision a world of Superheroes, with no capes. Thought that capes were lame. Found reasons why they were lame too. Haha... Guess what! It became a hit! Finding Nemo was about the Sea! Someone thought about it, and they went to do it! But who would think talking fish can actually appeal to the general audience?

Easy. Quoted by Brad Bird, the guy who dished out The Incredibles, "Its the STORY, its ALL about THE STORY!" The story is formed in the mind and then portrayed through a medium. Everybody has a story to tell. In olden times, there were Story-tellers. So they tell it through speaking. They find creative ways to brighten up their story. But notice, their story, the words they used, were never "difficult" words. Simple with emotion behind it as well as the Story-teller giving life to the tale.

From there, we have drawings. Where caveman drew on walls, to tell a story. Although you have to figure out the dialog yourself. Then film came in. Old films. Animators started from Walt Disney. He created the cartoon. Then computers came in. And then computer experts began thinking how to improve on it. Till what we are seeing now. From a 2D generated picture, using computers for an enhance medium, we now have 3D.

Sorry talked too much. But thats why I think animators behind the story settings should be like this. A simple story, told in a magnificent way... Thats Animation.

Welcome to the Next Phase...

Sometimes I just can't believe I'm turning 20. I mean, whats up with that? I still feel uncomfortable when kids called me "Uncle", I mean I know I have to soon put up with it, but its uncalled for! I'm 20 doesn't mean I'm super old and you call me "Uncle". Sheesh...

Yup I've re painted my whole blog. I prefer painting it then find some fancy design or layout, this suits just fine to me. Well, ya the main reason is I do not know how to operate the background settings and all that layout settings. I rather stick with something simple.

So why did I do it a little Gothic style? I feel that I have reach a crossroad in my life right now. I've just received news that my Common Test 2 is coming and my BTN Exam is in AUGUST! I was like WHAT? My NS enlistment was September!!! But yea I need to pass my BTN and the reason why the School letter stated October to be the time to differ to is because the exam results will be out by then. So yea, I can't go in yet until I'm sure its all over and done with.

I need to buck up on my studies and have to STOP procrastinating in my project and assignments! Dangerously close to the deadline too. I better do something about it. Its the time to endure the Valleys of the Shadow of Death. Yup, Valleys with a 'S' at the back. Right after this BTN Exam, theres still the NAPFA test to take if I can take. Also there is the dreaded NS! A Huge Valley with little Valleys inside. After NS, theres still the decision to make a direction in Animation as in where to go in.

So many Valleys to go through. But its time to fight through it. There are other things I wish to complete before I go for BMT. To finish my first book on the Dragoon War Chronicles. Here come the days that a boy will turn into a man... Hopefully. =)

A Great Disappointment... Games of Life...

Really, its not the best time this week for me either.

I've just ended my Guitar course, yup, quit it. Why? No money... Simple as that. Had to cancel it. Got so psyched up for nothing. I mean here I am naming a blog that I am Living the Dream. Probably now comes the Nightmare. Reality hits really hard on me this time round and its winning.
I like to do a bit of an analogy over here. Recently I read a magazine article called GameAxis. The Editor wrote something about games being the next generation and why is it that people, especially Singaporeans, had a rather negative view on it. But I'm not going to debate about that, tired of explaining myself. Maybe some other time I will post on it... For now... I want to say that right now, we are playing the Game called Life. Nope not the board game, the real life action game.

I like to think that right now, we are in a very Huge RPG world and we are the players. No NPC's are involve in selling and all that, the only NPC's will be demons and angels. To beat the game? Well, live life to the fullest, the pursuit for happiness as well as the fulfillment of a well lived life. In deed, its quite hard to be the top 10 ranking in your field of work. You got to deal with parents trouble, lecturer's/teacher's obstacles and financial problems. Solving them is your power, as well as developing something new. Its the game of ultimate proportions. In every game, there is always a villain for this case? The Devil.

I like to imagine the Devil casting Status ailments on me. I need help from the outside to cure me from all abnormalities. These are your party members who will guide you and of course, you choose the party. After having a party you will start to consider which town do you think you can take over. But God has equipped us with the sword of the spirit and armor of righteous nous. We are able to defend more into focus. Anyway, i'll talk more tml, tired.

Choices and Regrets...

You know, its not easy to make choices, cause every choice always comes with regrets.

Looking back, the choices I have made, I really regretted most of the choices. Last time, I always took the negative approach, always dwelling on "If only I can go back in time and just change it, everything would be better."

I guess that's how the idea of Time Traveling came to most people. I still think like that, I can't help it! However, I do not "dwell" on it for too long. I mean, this sort of thing kind of waste your time, yet it bears a certain "hurt" as you go through life.

I have been having one of those times. I mean, my mom came to lecture me once again. "This is REALITY, you can't always think of a life of happily ever after. This is the world we live in." Of course she did not say that, I just place it in a way we can understand what she was trying to tell me. I asked her if she knew the way I think and that was her answer. "You like to watch shows that tells you that everything is alright." What's wrong with that? I thought "You always think you can do things just like how the film world says." I belief she did not understand why movies existed. But thats not the point. The point that struck my core was "All this will not happen. Its just fantasy."

I can't believe that. I'm sorry.

I'm not saying bad about my mom. She cares for me, a lot, maybe too much. She tells things straight to the point and lives her life in Reality. The reason why we tend to quarrel over certain issues and even minor issues is basically how she "kills" the dream by not supporting you. I know its for my good. All mom's do the best for their own children's good.

Now, I am officially on my own... Working for my own money, my own allowance, my own education for the future. Its hard. Oh, there's still my dental payment to pay for. I have to pay it. I kept thinking the amount of debts I carry towards my mom and I really do not have any self-esteem, I don't love myself anymore. All I see is the dark looming debts, the huge wave of anxiety plus the burdens were tripled by work and working life.

I realize my self-esteem will always stay down unless someone acknowledges me for who I am. I am childish, not hardworking, not the best looking guy in whatever social group I'm in. I am not spiritually strong, I am sensitive to dust and other small particles that like to get in my nose and throat. My bad habits are basically rubbing my nose, biting nails, i mean someone commented on me being unhygienic in the workplace. Well I am who I am, and I'm easily bullied because I'm naive, too goody two shoes, always a dork in other people's sight.

Sure cell group I can be myself, but sometimes, when I play the guitar, I feel the emptiness, I feel something was missing, it was not the presence of God that was missing. Its the love that I had. Its somehow gone, perverted. Simply I have no talent. Some people said I have, I say, I really do not have.

This is probably the most emo post I'm doing, but I'm going to put it up. Why? Because I want you to know, how some people think. This was my thinking last week, until Saturday when cell group changed the atmosphere.

Then monday, something bad happened again. The blow was heavy, had to cry it out... But in the end, I still came out strong. Not by my strength, but by your strength, Father. By the way, if this post scared you... I'm sorry, its just the way it was... Had to let that out.

By the way, watched Drillbit Taylor last night, great show I give it 3.5/5 overall, but the morals it teach? 4/5.

The Popcorn Slammer Times

That's right, I shall officially release the Popcorn Slammer Times. Its basically me, writing about movies so if you ever see the PST you know its time for movie review talks.

So for the first issue of PST! I have watched The Mist. It was Fantabulously scary.

Actually its not a horror movie, but its more like a thriller. It touches on the Psychological thinking of men when it comes to survival in dire situations. The Mist touches on, well, a mist that suddenly engulfs a little town which recently had a huge storm. The main character was David Drayton, an artist. He had brought his boy and his neighbor out to the grocer's to get some food for the aftermath of the storm and that store was really crowded.

Along the way to the store, the army trucks passed by and David started mentioning about the Arrowhead Project the army were working on and how mysterious it was that so many were posted there. Then when they were queuing at the store, all of a sudden a guy runs up in the street with blood on his nose and started screaming "DON'T GO INTO THE MIST!" Some people ran out of the store because their cars are out there, however the mysterious mist was so fast that it enveloped the whole store but the mist did not enter the store. However, the danger of the mist was why there were people screaming the moment they enter the mist.

So David was stuck in the store along with his son. His wife was near the lake where they first witnessed the mist and thought nothing about it. Which he dread for the worse the moment this mist came and took lives. Now surrounded by the mist, the people in the store were trapped and had to survive weird monsters and creatures as they invade the store one by one. The thrills is also when some had to get out of the store to get to just the nearby pharmacy. Indeed its something worth to watch. I can't say more or i will just make this review more confusing. Watch it for yourself.

In deed you can give Stephen King another round of applause for making a book so scary that it just had to made it on film. By the way, Stephen King is a Thriller Dude. I guess thats why i did not read much of his books. But movies derived from his books? I can handle it.

Rating is 5/5 Very good acting and plot.

Guys this is Rihanna's new hit. It's a rather sad song, but from the lyrics you can tell that this song is all about anguish due to relationship problems. But other than the behind story, enjoy the music and arrangement of Rihanna. =)

Old Movies Reviews... Meet the Robinsons, Happy Feet

Yup already old movies I know.

For some of you who have not watch it, pls do yourselves a favor and go and watch it. Whether you rent it, download it or borrow it so long as you do not steal it. These two movies I have watched over my Malaysia trip with my family. Ya, I stay up late a bit la to watch. Anyway, Meet the Robinson's was one of the best story told by Disney in 3D animation. Last time, Disney did Chicken Little, which was seriously very good too! Story was well plotted and so was the suspense created in the 3D environment. Guess what, Disney did it again! It was not Pixar's team that did Meet the Robinson's.

So Meet the Robinson's tells of an orphan boy, abandoned by his mother who placed him at the Orphanage entrance. It was how he became an inventor. A boy with an active imagination and would work towards his inventions. He decided one day to find his mom by using a machine that can see the memories of the past. He started to design it. After many attempts he did it and went to the science fair to produce his work but it failed. The machine blew up in smokes. Disappointed, the boy was met up with a weird boy named Wilbur who confessed he was from the future and that a man in a bowler hat sabotage his experiment. That was when the wild ride begins.

I'm going to stop here. Because here is really where it gets crazy. See how this boy and Wilbur get out of trouble. Meeting Wilbur's family which was the Robinson's. The twist in the story was a very good one. It was well thought of, well plotted, lots of quirky jokes and situational jokes. A mix of emotions are in the movie. The characters were believable and well modelled. All I can say is... PLEASE! Do not miss out on this movie. Those friends of mine who want the movie, can get it from me. Please come to me directly if you want it.

Happy Feet. Was the BEST ANIMATED Penguin Movie I have ever seen! The story was GREAT! A bit cheesy at the ending part, but all in all, the dance the singing it was all worth it! The story of how Mumble the only Penguin who cannot sing, but was replaced with a new gift. That's right, the other side of expression of music, which is, DANCE. Blessed by this gift, watch as how Mumble Saves his penguin community. Its one heck of a ride trust me.

Meet the Robinson's Rating = 4.5/5

Happy Feet = 4.5/5

Guitar to the Next Level!

Alright folks, I officially announced I'm having guitar lessons from now on, on a Wednesday Evening!

The place was at Haogang, North-east of Singapore. Near to IMH. Yup, it is near one of my friends house(Huiqi). Anyway, I today I went there and boy his house was rather big. When he came to greet me, Jimmy was still as robust and energetic as I have first met him. He then got about to start with my pick holding and working up to asking me to strum the Chord Rules. I can't tell you much coz I am paying for his course and also, I am not masterful at what he taught. I know "masterful" is not a word. Anyways, I have been taught some scales and he showed me what the scales are. They were actually notes in a family key that you can use to SOLO! WOW!

If I master that, I really can solo in the middle of my songs! THATS FANTASTIC!!! Perhaps its time i really got serious about it. I was given homework too, 30 songs I need to submit to him that I know I can play. He does not care if its pop songs, Chinese songs, Christian songs... He is a Christian himself actually. He plays for his Church. Other than that I need to perfect my fingering. I'm going to set aside 2 hours everyday to practice man.

I hope to be able to show him that I can be a great student to him so that we can move along nicely. Hope to extract from him as many techniques as possible. LOL!

Movie Fest

Today, was a movie fest day for me.

I've downloaded and watched Rocky Balboa, Rambo the latest one, Spiderwick Chronicles and The Sixth Sense.

Out of all these movies I have watched? The best is the last two. The first two did not gave me an impact. I was expecting Rocky to be more Punchy then the Dog. But he didn't give a knock out. LOL! Rambo? Well, its Sylvester Stallone again and sure, like Rambo always does. Always shoot his way out and people get drilled by mounted machine guns fired by our huge friend.

The last two, really place a lasting impression.

Spiderwick Chronicles was my kind of thing. Fantasy fights, ingenuity by merging the Faeries world with the Real World. It was amazing. Great animation of the animals and monsters. The plot was well thought out. I expected more, and they did gave more. It was a story worth telling and thats the thing about Fantasy movies, you cannot think logically, I mean, you can to solve certain puzzles, but you also have to think out of the box of the world.

In fantasy, you cannot be so uptight and think every thing's going to be logical. I know some friends who cannot enjoy a Fantasy movie, all because they said "Its not logical." or "Why must he fight the goblins for a last stand. Just throw one grenade all die already ma!" The thing is, what if your normal weapons do not work on such creatures. Even if it did, they probably have magic to outsmart you. That's where they go, "Magic? That's stupid." I warn you people who are reading this blog. Please do not be like these people. I mean, the reason why you watch a Fantasy movie is because you want to get into that world for just an hour and a half! So loosen up!

But for Spiderwick? I give a 5 out of 5 rating.

However the best of the Best i have ever seen so far is The Sixth Sense by M.Night Shayamalan. This guy, is a genius in directing this type of shows. I mean, who would think of such stuff! Bruce Willis is a great actor for this movie, along with that boy(FORGOT HIS NAME! But he acted in Artificial Intelligence) This show was THE best MIND-BLOWING show ever! I mean the plot was well planned. The whole story was engaging and not boring at all. Suspense was always there always lingering in your head and provoking you, because this show is about the mind. Wow. Not many directors take that direction. Even I sometimes think how do I make a movie that really blows people minds, my answer is always, its hard.

This movie i give an outstanding rating of 6/5, MUST WATCH! DOWNLOAD IF YOU MUST! WORTH IT IF YOU BOUGHT IT!!!

Thats all for now. Oh and I'm back to composing music. =)

The Chonicles of Narnia: Prince Caspian the Movie

Ever since I watch this movie, I've been thinking at how we really have neglected God. For some of you who have not known, this movie is actually based on the bible, well written by C.S. Lewis into a Fantasy Fiction novel. Indeed it was the Dark Times of Narnia at this point in time. It also shows basically our own normal life. Here we see, Narnia with Aslan missing and the Kings and Queens of Old were blamed for leaving Narnia. This depicts what we feel whenever we are down and when things do not seem to go our way, we feel exactly how the Narnian's felt.

The great thing about this movie was, the old enemies have join forces with the Narnian's like the Minotaur, used to be under the White Witch's command, have now join the ranks in the battle of the Telmarines(hope i got it right). And in this whole movie, its all about seeking God and how we foolish it may be to others. Yet sometimes God's Calling is just right in front of you, its just like how Queen Lucy put it "Perhaps you weren't looking for Aslan." Thats the thing that hits the nail on the head.

When you needed a direction, you pray, yes you pray, and in the end? You can't see God, you can't feel him, why? Either you were busy trying to be your proud self? Like Peter the High King when he was suppose to find a way to re-group with the other Narnians. But in the end, nearly lead them to the main army of the Telmarines. Lucy depicts the Mary from the Mary and Martha. She is always seeking God wholeheartedly, no doubts about God even when he's not around. Yet the moment she seek Him, Aslan, in the end she brought peace to the whole of Narnia. This goes to show one thing, you seek God, He's there, and when you really seek him because you love him, all things shall be added. Lucy was not afraid of the enemy at the last part. She knows, Aslan is with her. Its the same with our life. We have God on our side, whom shall we be afraid?

The movie also touch on the issue of temptation once again. She tempted Prince Caspian and in the end when High King Peter intervene he was also tempted. The good news is, even when you are tempted, its always great to have a best friend, your brother in Christ to save you from the lurch of evil. King Edmund was once tempted and he knows that no good will come from accepting the Witches offer. He immediately broke the spell with no hesitation and saved the High King from being tempted.

Other than that, Peter the High King knew he made a lot of mistakes, so does Prince Caspian, and in order to ensure victory over the vast army of the Telmarines, High king Peter went mano a mano with the King of the Telmarines. Peter wins the battle.

Besides I think this whole movie talks alot about Redemption as well as Forgiveness. Caspian's people were the Telmarines. Only he is able to set things right for he was the only Telmarine who have heard of Narnians. He was campassionate, thoughtful, a worthy fighter and a humble man. Even when he had vengeance in his heart, he did not kill. He may be tempted, but he is still able to guard his heart. A person who rises above and overcomes problems. That's how we have to be, no matter what the cost.

The Call by Regina Spektor Cover

Here's my Latest Recording! With my New guitar! LOL! Love this song. Its from The Chronicles of Narnia : Prince Caspian, Hope you enjoy it.

Great News Number 2!

Some of you have not known this. Well, I went to a website where writers can comment on each others stories that they posted up. So the registration is simple. First of all its free, but to be able to post something, you have to give comments to other people. Smart administrator, force you to read others work then post LOL!

To my main topic, I posted my piece of article on a Fantasy story known as Peacemaker Chronicles. I had a great response from the comments. Its only 6 comments but quite a number of views! Some gave me great con-crit (constructive criticism) advice. I am now, planning my story such that it is entertaining and yet holds a deep message. Just like C.S. Lewis for chronicles of Narnia, I hope I can do a better job at writing a message hidden behind a fantasy.

For those who wanna take a look at my story? Well I believe its at my previous post... Let me see
http://caleb4eva.blogspot.com/2008/03/peacemaker-chronicles-dragoon-tales.html

There... So I posted this, I even got a 14 year old boy interested! Whats the site for this writing spot? Well, heres the link http://www.writersintouch.com/article_list.php?categoryid=13
Check it out! If you wanna be the next generation writer and you're not sure if people liked it? Then why not try this out first before publishing? LOL! Of course there is the risk that people will steal your ideas, I'm just there to share them.

PHWAAAAAAAAAAHHHH!!!!!

GOOD NEWS!!! FINALLY!!!

I'VE GOT A NEW ACOUSTIC GUITAR!!!!!!!!

Takamine brand, cost about $300 and that does not come with a bag. So all in all, I bought everything for 380 plus. But the sound has great volume and vibrancy. I really love that guitar I bought. If only I had a camera to take a picture of it... If I ever have the chance I'll take one and post it up here. Well, today, my friends came to my house to Jam and what a great time. Kean was suppose to stay at my house, but due to a family outing, he had to cancel sleeping over, but he came over and we did something out of this world. LOL!

Ha0 also came to my house. We jammed the guitar for hours but it seemed like 30 mins from the whole thing. Time flies so fast when you enjoy yourself...

Anyway for service today, was the most interesting science lesson we have ever had. Haha... Pastor preached about DNA and why do we learn this? Because we carry Jesus DNA in our bodies the moment we are saved. We have the DNA that writes the code of "Faith, Hope and Love" in it.

The Ultimate revelation? Did you know that your body is held up by the cross even before you are saved??? Well we LITERALLY are held by crosses.

Pastor showed us an image of a certain protein in our body known as Laminin. It was an interesting protein.

This Protein has a shape of a Cross

Its main function was to connect the almost all the tissues in our body and basically they held the internal organs together.

If this protein were to fail, your body can break down. However, we all did not know that such a protein exist! I went to wikipedia and saw the definition of the protein, I am very sure that there is a God.

Such creativity even before Jesus died, God already placed something in our body that resembles the death of Jesus Christ, that paid for our sins. We are indeed made by a God above.
